Abstract
This study aims to describe and explain (1) the use of the cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) learning model can improve narrative writing skills in class V students of SDN 2 Drenges, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency, and (2) the activities of class V students of SDN 2 Drenges, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency in learning to write narratives through the cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) learning model. This study is a classroom action research using two cycles. The results of this study are (1) the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model in learning Indonesian language in the aspect of narrative writing skills in class V SDN 2 Drenges, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency can improve student activity. This is indicated by the results of observations of student activity in the implementation of the cycle I action obtained a score of 21 with an average score of 2.33. In cycle II student activity increased with a score of 25.64 with an average score of 2.85, and (2) activities of fifth grade students of SDN 2 Drenges, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency in learning to write narratives through the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model showed that the evaluation results at the end of learning in each cycle obtained data in cycle I with the lowest value of 55, the highest value of 85, the average class of 67.2 and classical completeness of 44%. In the implementation of the action cycle II, the results of students' writing skills obtained with the lowest value of 65, the highest value of 90, the average of 78.2 and the percentage of classical completeness of 92%. It can be concluded that the results of the writing skills of fifth grade students have met the success indicators, namely at least good with classical completeness reaching 80% (KKM Indonesian Language ≥70).
