Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) to describe the implementation of the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) model in reading comprehension learning for Grade IV students of SDN 2 Semare, Nganjuk Regency, and (2) to describe the improvement of reading comprehension skills through the application of the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) model for Grade IV students of SDN 2 Semare, Nganjuk Regency. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 19 students in Grade IV of SDN 2 Semare, consisting of 9 male and 10 female students. The data in this study were in the form of observation results of teacher activities and students' reading comprehension skills. Data collection techniques used were observation, documentation, interviews, and tests. The results of the study after the implementation of the CIRC model showed a good impact. This is proven by the increase from cycle I to cycle II. The average score of the teacher activity component was 91.92% in cycle I, increasing to 95.96% in cycle II. The increase from cycle I to cycle II was 4.04%. The average percentage of student mastery in cycle I was 50.01%, increasing to 65.79% in cycle II. The increase from cycle I to cycle II was 15.78%. Thus, it is concluded that the implementation of the CIRC model can improve the reading comprehension skills of Grade IV students of SDN 2 Semare, Nganjuk Regency.
