Abstract
Reading comprehension is a crucial academic foundation; however, fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Baron still face difficulties in identifying main ideas and summarizing texts. This study aims to examine the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model in improving students' reading comprehension skills. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles. The research subjects included all fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Baron. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests, activity observations, and documentation, which were then analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results indicate that the implementation of the CIRC model significantly improves students' reading abilities. This is evidenced by the increase in average test scores from the pre-cycle to the end of Cycle II. Beyond academic aspects, the CIRC model effectively fosters the values of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and critical thinking in alignment with the Pancasila Student Profile through active group discussions.
