Abstract

This study aims to provide empirical evidence and empirically test the effect of leverage, business strategy and Directors' Characteristics on financial distress, with the audit committee as a moderating variable. This study was conducted on property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2021-2024 period. This study is a quantitative study using secondary data from the annual financial reports of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The study population was selected using a purposive sampling method, resulting in a final sample of 268 data samples for analysis. The data analysis technique used Moderate Regression Analysis (MRA) and the analysis using IBM SPSS Statistical 24. The results indicate that leverage influences financial distress, business strategy influences financial distress, and director characteristics have no effect on financial distress. The audit committee moderates the effects of leverage, business strategy, and director characteristics on financial distress.
