Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain (1) the application of the Think Talk Write model assisted by media of images of natural events which can improve the poetry writing skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Pudak, Pudak District, Ponorogo Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of students in class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Pudak District. Pudak, Ponorogo Regency, in learning to write poetry uses the Think Talk Write model assisted by images of natural events as media. This research is classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this research are (1) the use of the Think Talk Write learning model assisted by images of natural events in learning to write poetry can improve the poetry writing ability of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Pudak, Pudak District, Ponorogo Regency. The improvement in the process can be seen in aspects of students' attention and enthusiasm in lessons, aspects of students' activeness in asking questions and answers, and aspects of students' activeness in doing assignments. This increase occurred gradually starting from pre-action, cycle I, to cycle II, and (2) student learning outcomes experienced an increase. In the pre-action, the average student score was 67.85 with only 3 students experiencing completeness. In cycle I there was an average score of 76 with 18 students having completed, and in cycle II there was an average score of 80.57 with 28 students having a complete score above 75. This increase in score shows that the implementation of actions from cycles I and Cycle II is able to improve students' ability to write poetry.
