Abstract
Civic Education (Pendidikan Pancasila) is one of the crucial subjects in shaping character and morality from an early age. However, the majority of students complain that the learning material tends to focus more on memorization and the understanding of abstract concepts. This condition makes it difficult for students to comprehend the lessons, resulting in low academic achievement. This study aims to improve students' learning outcomes in Civic Education through the use of Dongkrek-based hand puppet media, rooted in local wisdom, at SDN 01 Garon, Madiun Regency. The research method employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 20 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings revealed a significant improvement in Cycle II, with the learning mastery level increasing from 40% to 85%, and the class average score rising from 68 to 83, surpassing the success indicator (Minimum Mastery Criteria/KKM ≥ 75). The Dongkrek-based hand puppet media proved effective in visualizing the values of Pancasila in a contextual manner through local cultural storytelling, thereby enhancing students' enthusiasm and active participation. Challenges such as classroom management and time constraints were successfully addressed through reflection and improved teaching strategies.The study concludes that integrating local wisdom into learning media not only enhances student learning outcomes but also helps preserve cultural heritage. Recommendations include developing more creative learning media, incorporating technology, and expanding research to other cultural contexts.
