Abstract

This study aims to develop an ethnomathematics e-module assisted by geogebra book on the Pythagorean theorem that is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding. The research method employed was Research and Development (R&D) using the Thiagarajan 4D development model, which consists of the stages of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The subjects of this study were 8C grade students of SMPN 4 Madiun totaling 8 students, and 8D grade students totaling 27 students. Data collection instruments included validation sheets, student response questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, and conceptual understanding test items. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires. The results showed that the developed e-module obtained an average validity score of 93% from media and material experts, categorized as very valid; was practical based on positive student responses with a score of 80.32% and teacher responses with a score of 87.14%; and was effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding as indicated by an N-Gain score of 0.41, categorized as moderate. Therefore, this ethnomathematics e-module assisted by GeoGebra Book can be used as an alternative learning resource to support mathematics learning, particularly on the Pythagorean theorem.
