Abstract

This research aims to develop an e-book as an interactive digital medium based on local wisdom to improve the reading literacy skills of Phase B students in fourth grade of elementary school. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The product developed is an interactive e-book containing local folktales such as The Origin of Lake Ngebel, The Origin of Ponorogo, and Ki Ageng Mirah, complete with illustrations and quizzes accessible via QR code. Validation results indicated the media was deemed "highly valid" by material and media experts. Limited and extensive trials on fourth grade students of SDN 2 Mangkujayan resulted in an average reading literacy score of 98%, indicating high effectiveness. In addition to improving comprehension of the text, this media also helps students reflect on local cultural values through contextual and enjoyable reading activities. Thus, interactive e-books based on local wisdom are deemed appropriate, engaging, and effective as learning media to improve reading literacy in elementary schools.
