Abstract
Mathematical literacy plays an important role in developing logical thinking skills and solving contextual problems. However, observations at SDN Beji III show that the mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students are still low, with daily test scores in mathematics falling below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). This is due to a lack of learning interest and the use of instructional models that do not relate the material to real-life contexts. Therefore, it is necessary to implement a learning model that is relevant to students' daily lives, such as the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This study aims to determine the effect of the CTL learning model on mathematical literacy in terms of the learning interest of fourth-grade students at SDN Beji III. The research uses a quantitative approach with a true experimental design in the form of a posttest-only control design. The subjects consisted of two classes: class IV-A as the experimental group taught using the CTL model, and class IV-B as the control group taught using the lecture method. Data collection techniques included a posttest to measure mathematical literacy and a questionnaire to assess students’ learning interest. Data analysis was conducted through validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using a Two-Way ANOVA. The results showed that the CTL learning model had a significant effect on students’ mathematical literacy with a significance value of 0.049. Learning interest also had a significant effect on mathematical literacy, with a significance value of 0.000. However, there was no interaction between the learning model and learning interest, with a significance value of 0.287. Thus, the CTL model is effective in improving students’ mathematical literacy regardless of their level of learning interest.
