Abstract
This study aims to improve children's language and communication skills and to increase children's active participation in the teaching and learning process through the storytelling method. This research is a qualitative Classroom Action Research conducted at TK PKK Kedungputri 1. The study was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data obtained in this study were gathered through observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research show that applying the storytelling method can improve children's language skills at TK PKK Kedungputri 1. This is evident from the increase in children's language skill indicators achieved by each child, from pre-cycle which averaged only four skills (26.6%), increasing to eight skills in Cycle I (53.3%), and reaching eleven skills in Cycle II (73.3%). This improvement is seen in children's ability to express ideas or opinions and answer questions. Through storytelling activities, children are given the opportunity to communicate directly, convey ideas, express opinions, answer questions, and interact with teachers and peers in an enjoyable atmosphere. This activity also encourages children to be more confident in speaking and using vocabulary in meaningful situations, leading to the conclusion that storytelling activities can improve children's Language Skills.
