Keywords: writing, narrative, strategy, clever tactics and visual media Narrative writing skills are one of the basic competencies that must be mastered by 6th-grade elementary school students. However, the reality in the field shows that students' narrative writing skills are still low. The main problems include difficulties in developing ideas, the inability to construct a systematic storyline, and a lack of imagination stimulation due to the minimal use of learning media.This study aims to narrate and explain (1) the application of clever tactics learning strategies assisted by visual media can improve narrative writing skills in grade VI students of SD Negeri 1 Sawahan, Lengkong District, Nganjuk Regency, and (2) the learning outcomes of grade VI students of SD Negeri 1 Sawahan, Lengkong District, Nganjuk Regency in learning to write narrative essays using clever tactics strategies assisted by visual media. This study uses a type of classroom action research with two research cycles. The findings revealed that the implementation of the creative-productive learning strategy assisted by visual media effectively improved students' narrative writing skills. Students' learning participation increased from an average score of 2.84 with a mastery percentage of 70% in Cycle I to 3.25 with a mastery percentage of 81.4% in Cycle II. Students' narrative writing achievement also improved, as indicated by the increase in the average class score from 67.25 in Cycle I to 83.54 in Cycle II. Classical learning mastery improved from 68.5% in Cycle I to 96.25% in Cycle II, while the average product assessment score increased from 80.00 to 86.71. Therefore, the creative-productive learning strategy assisted by visual media proved to be effective in improving both students' learning participation and narrative writing skills among sixth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Sawahan, Lengkong District, Nganjuk Regency.
