Abstract
Short story writing instruction in senior high schools still requires contextual learning resources that are relevant to technological developments. One digital literary work that can be utilized as a learning resource is Pupus Putus Sekolah by Kurnia Harta Winata because it contains intrinsic elements that can serve as a basis for teaching short story writing. This study aims to describe the intrinsic elements of Pupus Putus Sekolah and formulate recommendations for learning materials and media for short story writing instruction for Grade X students of SMAN 1 Jiwan. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The data sources consisted of dialogues, narratives, and scenes in Season 1, Episodes 1–33 of Pupus Putus Sekolah by Kurnia Harta Winata. Data were collected through reading, note-taking, and documentation techniques. Data validity was established through theoretical triangulation, while data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Pupus Putus Sekolah contains intrinsic elements consisting of theme, characters and characterization, plot, setting, point of view, and moral message, which work together to construct a cohesive story. The results of the analysis were then used as the basis for formulating recommendations for short story writing instructional materials, including a teaching module, student worksheets, teaching materials, and learning media, adapted to the learning objectives of Grade X students of SMAN 1 Jiwan. Therefore, Pupus Putus Sekolah can be utilized as a learning resource as well as a basis for developing contextual and relevant instructional materials for short story writing instruction.
