Abstract

This study aims to measure and determine the effectiveness of the Self Directed Learning (SDL) model on the numeracy skills of fourth-grade students regarding pictograms and bar charts. This quantitative research utilized an Interrupted Time Series Experimental Design involving a single saturated sample group consisting of 14 fourth-grade students at SDN Klagenserut 01, Madiun Regency. Research data were collected through objective test instruments in the form of Pre-tests and Post-Tests that had been validated and tested for reliability, along with supporting documentation methods. Data analysis was conducted using prerequisite normality tests and hypothesis testing through the Paired Sample Test. The results showed that there was a significant increase in students' numeracy skills after being given learning treatments using the SDL model. The average student learning outcome score increased from 51.43 during the Pre-test to 81.40 during the Post-Test. The hypothesis testing results obtained a p-value of 0.000, which is smaller than the significance level of 0.05. This indicates that H0 is rejected, concluding that the SDL learning model is significantly effective in improving the numeracy skills and mathematical concept understanding of elementary school students.
