Abstract
Drama script writing skills are one of the language skills that require students to develop ideas, organize plotlines, construct characters, create dialogues, and present them in a complete and creative drama script. This study aims to describe the use of wayang kulit (traditional Indonesian shadow puppets) as an educational medium in creativity-based drama script writing instruction for Class XI C students at MAN 4 Madiun. The study focuses on three aspects: lesson planning, the implementation of the learning process, and students' creativity. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research participants consisted of an Indonesian language teacher and 21 students of Class XI C at MAN 4 Madiun. The data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and the assessment results of students' drama script writing. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation, while the data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study indicate that the lesson planning was systematically designed in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum. The implementation of the learning process utilized wayang kulit (traditional Indonesian shadow puppets) as an instructional medium to stimulate students in developing the structural elements of drama, thereby enhancing their participation, motivation, imagination, and creativity. The assessment results showed that most students achieved good to very good performance, with an average score of 87.04. Therefore, wayang kulit proved to be an effective educational medium for creativity-based drama script writing instruction. The findings of this study may serve as a reference for future research to further explore the use of wayang kulit in different learning materials, educational levels, or instructional models.
