Abstract
This study aimed to develop culture-based animated video learning media for teaching intrinsic story elements in fifth-grade Indonesian language classes. The study used a research and development design based on the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation model. The participants were a fifth-grade teacher and 28 fifth-grade students at SDN Teguhan 02, Madiun. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation sheets, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The data were analyzed using percentage-based feasibility criteria. The results showed that conventional media still dominated Indonesian language learning, while students needed visual, audio, and culturally relevant media to understand theme, character, setting, plot, and moral message. The developed product integrated local cultural stories, animated characters, narration, traditional music, text, and short evaluation activities. Expert validation showed that the media aspect obtained 86%, while the material and language aspects obtained 86%, both in the very feasible category. Teacher and student responses reached 98%, indicating very positive acceptance. The study concludes that the culture-based animated video media is feasible, practical, and relevant for supporting contextual Indonesian language learning. This study was limited to one school and one class, so wider testing is needed.
