Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model assisted by E-bookstory learning media on the literacy skills of fifth-grade elementary school students. The research method used in this study is quantitative research with a quasi-experiment using Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted at SDN 01 Manisrejo, Madiun City. The population and sample of this study were all fifth-grade students totaling 50 students, consisting of 25 students of class VA as the experimental class and 25 students of class VB as the control class, with a saturated sampling technique. The data collection technique used a test in the form of multiple-choice questions that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the reliability test showed a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.887. The data analysis technique used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test Independent Sample T-test assisted by SPSS version 25. The results of this study were that there was an increase in students' literacy skills in the experimental group as seen from the average pretest of 61.40 and posttest of 80.40. This improvement makes it easier for students to learn Indonesian, especially in identifying the main idea in the reading text. This is reinforced by the results of the hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-test, which shows a significance value (2 tailed) of 0.033, smaller than the significance level of 0.033 < 0.05. Thus, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the CIRC learning model assisted by E-Bookstory media has a significant influence on students' literacy skills.
