Abstract
Learning to read comprehension in grade IV of SDN Sugihwaras 01 is still dominated by lecture methods and the use of textbooks so that students are less active and have difficulty understanding the content of the reading. This study aims to (1) describe the process of developing KARCITA learning media with the integration of the Student Teams-Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model, (2) determine the level of validity of KARCITA learning media, and (3) determine the effectiveness of KARCITA learning media in improving the reading comprehension skills of grade IV students of SDN Sugihwaras 01. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. The research subjects consisted of media experts, material experts, language experts, grade IV teachers, and 20 grade IV students of SDN Sugihwaras 01. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. Data analysis used quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis and paired sample t-test with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics. The results of the study showed that (1) KARCITA media was successfully developed using the ADDIE model; (2) The media was declared highly valid with a validation percentage of 94% from media experts, 100% from material experts, and 93% from language experts; and (3) the media was declared effective based on an increase in the average pretest score from 64.93 to 95.20 and the results of the paired sample t-test showing a significance value of <0.001 (<0.05). In addition, the media received a 97% teacher response and a 93% student response, indicating that the media was very practical. Thus, the KARCITA learning media with the integration of the STAD model was proven to be valid, practical, and effective in improving the reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade elementary school students.
