Supervisor II: Dr. Muhammad Binur Huda, M.Pd. Keywords: role-playing method, poetry reading skills, Indonesian language learning, elementary school. Poetry learning in elementary schools still tends to focus on cognitive aspects and memorization, causing students to be less active, less confident in expressing themselves, and to have low poetry reading skills. This condition was also found among students of SD Negeri Kedungadem III, Kedungadem District, Bojonegoro Regency, particularly in aspects of pronunciation, intonation, expression, and appreciation of poetry. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the role-playing method on improving students’ poetry reading skills and to describe the process of its implementation in Indonesian language learning. This study employed a quantitative approach using a classroom action research design. The research subjects were students of SD Negeri Kedungadem III. Data collection techniques included observation, poetry reading skill tests, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using statistical techniques to identify differences in poetry reading skills before and after the implementation of the role-playing method. The results show that the implementation of the role-playing method has a significant effect on improving students’ poetry reading skills. Students became more active, confident, and capable of expressing poetry by paying attention to pronunciation, intonation, expression, and appreciation of the poem’s content. In addition, the learning atmosphere became more enjoyable and meaningful, which increased students’ learning motivation. Therefore, the role-playing method is effective as an alternative approach to poetry learning in elementary schools
