Keywords: reading, beginning, drill method, and image media This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of the drill method assisted by picture media can improve reading comprehension learning of class II students of SDN 2 Rowomarto, Patianrowo District, Nganjuk Regency, and (2) the learning outcomes of class II students of SDN 2 Rowomarto, Patianrowo District, Nganjuk Regency in reading learning using the drill method assisted by picture media. This study is a classroom action research using two cycles. The results of this study, namely: (1) the application of the drill method assisted by picture media can improve the beginning reading of class II students of SDN 2 Rowomarto, Patianrowo District, Nganjuk Regency, there was an increase. This is evidenced by the value of teacher activity of 69.11% in the good category, increasing in cycle II by 91.17% in the very good category. The value of student activity in cycle I was 77.94% with a good category, increasing in cycle II to 95.58% with a very good category and (2) The learning outcomes of grade II students of SDN 2 Rowomarto using the drill method assisted by picture media can improve students' initial reading skills or student learning completeness. This can be seen from the results of the analysis of 3 students who have not achieved completeness individually, while the number of students who have completed is 20 people with a percentage of 86.95% both individually and classically. Based on this analysis, students have achieved the KKM that has been set.
