Abstract
The ethnoscience-based learning process should be implemented by providing concrete learning situations so that students gain meaningful learning experiences. This approach connects IPAS concepts with local cultural contexts, thereby facilitating students’ understanding of the material in a contextual manner. Therefore, this study aims to describe the implementation of ethnoscience-based learning in the IPAS subject at SDN Klagenserut V, to analyze students’ learning activities, and to examine its impact on students’ learning outcomes. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of observation and interview formats. Data analysis applied a descriptive qualitative model using an interactive analysis process through the stages of data collection, data condensation, data display, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results show that the implementation of ethnoscience-based learning successfully presented structured learning stages, starting from the exploration of local wisdom to the delivery of learning outcomes. The teacher acted as a facilitator in linking IPAS material with local cultural practices, such as rice field ecosystems, traditional agricultural activities, and the use of herbal plants. Students demonstrated active engagement in learning activities and were able to connect scientific concepts with everyday experiences. Evaluation results indicated an improvement in students’ conceptual understanding and learning outcomes. This study contributes to the field of education, particularly in the development of contextual learning models based on local wisdom, and supports the integration of ethnoscience in IPAS learning to enhance material relevance, student character development, and the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile.
