Abstract

ABSTRACT Catur Endah Ikriyawati, 2026. The role of the School Environment and Peer Interaction on Enhancing Social Development of Group B Kindergarten Students at TK Mataram I, Madiun City. Thesis. Madiun: Master’s Program in Social Science Education, Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Dr. Sudarmiani, M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Ibadullah Malawi, M.Pd. Keywords: School Environment, Peer Interaction, Social Development Social development in kindergarten children is an essential aspect that needs to be fostered from an early age, as it influences children’s ability to interact, cooperate, and adapt to their social environment. The school environment and peer interactions play a significant role in shaping children’s social behavior. This study aims to describe the influence of the school environment and peer interaction on the social development of kindergarten children at TK Mataram I, Madiun City. This research employed a qualitative research design with a descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of the principal, classroom teachers, and kindergarten children as observed participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results of the study indicate that a safe, comfortable, and conducive school environment is able to create positive social interactions among children. In addition, interactions with peers help children develop social skills such as cooperation, sharing, communication, and mutual respect. Teachers play an important role in managing the classroom environment and facilitating positive peer interactions to support children’s social development. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the school environment and peer interaction have a significant influence in supporting the social development of kindergarten children at TK Mataram I, Madiun City.
