Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed at improving students’ descriptive writing skills through the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Nganti II, Ngraho District, Bojonegoro Regency, Academic Year 2025/2026. The research subjects were 18 fifth-grade students. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection.Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of observation sheets for teacher and student activities and a descriptive writing skill test. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods to determine improvements in students’ descriptive writing skills and learning activeness.The results showed that the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model was able to improve students’ descriptive writing skills. This improvement was indicated by the increase in students’ learning outcomes from the pre-cycle stage to Cycle II. In addition, students’ activity and participation in learning also increased, as evidenced by higher enthusiasm, greater confidence in asking questions, and increased involvement in learning activities. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Picture and Picture learning model is effective in improving descriptive writing skills and student activeness among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Nganti II.
