Abstract
Abstract : This study aims to improve students' critical reading skills through the use of digital media in the form of the Let's Read application in Indonesian language learning. Critical reading skills are important skills that students must have in understanding, analyzing, and evaluating information in a text. However, based on the results of observations in class V of SDN Banjarsari 02, it was found that students still had difficulty in understanding the contents of the reading in depth, concluding information, and answering critical questions. This low critical reading ability was caused by the lack of variety of learning media and limited student motivation in reading. This study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with two cycles, each consisting of the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 7 students of class V of SDN Banjarsari 02. The instruments used in this study included observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. Indicators of critical reading skills used included: (1) interpreting the implied meaning of the text, (2) applying concepts in the text, (3) analyzing the content of the reading, (4) synthesizing the content of the reading, and (5) evaluating the content of the text. The results of the study showed an increase in students' critical reading skills from the pre-cycle to cycles I and II. In the pre-cycle stage, only one student (14%) achieved the Minimum Competency Criteria (≥75). In cycle I, this increased to two students (29%), and in cycle II, this increased significantly to six out of seven students (86%). This improvement indicates that the use of the Let's Read application creates a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment and encourages students to think critically in comprehending reading material. Therefore, the implementation of the Let's Read application has proven effective in improving the critical reading skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Banjarsari 02.
