Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Outing Class method on the understanding of ecosystem concepts in fifth-grade students at SDN Teguhan 02. The method used was a quantitative approach with a posttest-only control group design. The study subjects consisted of two classes: a control class given conventional learning and an experimental class using the Outing Class method. Data were collected through a post-test and analyzed using a t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the post-test results of the two classes, with the average score of the experimental class being higher than that of the control class. This finding proves that the Outing Class method is effective in improving understanding of ecosystem concepts. Thus, out-of-class learning methods can be an innovative alternative to improve the quality of science learning in elementary schools.
