Abstract

Current students' literacy skills are still low in solving HOT (Higher Order Thinking)-based problems. Digital-based teaching materials can be one of the innovations in learning. This study aims to produce a valid, practical and effective HOT (Higher Order Thinking)-based audio-visual e-module. This study is a development research with the ADDIE model consisting of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation. The population and sample in this study were 30 students and 6 students from class VIII of SMP Negeri 4 Magetan who were selected randomly (random sampling). Data collection techniques used observation, questionnaires, student learning outcome tests. Data analysis in this study used the validity formula, NGain, and practicality of student responses. The results of the study showed that 1) the average calculation of the validity percentage was 87.19%, which means that the e-module was declared very valid, 2) the e-module was declared practical with a final practicality value of 89% in limited trials and 78.4% in field trials exceeding the minimum practicality limit with a value range of 50.01% - 75.00%, 3) the effectiveness percentage was 62%, which means that the e-module was declared quite effective, 4) student learning outcomes increased with an n-gain value of 0.06%. It can be concluded that the HOT (Higher Order Thinking)-based audio-visual e-module is feasible to be tested on a large scale in the next stage.
