Abstract
Cognitive ability is a capability involving the transformation of knowledge that arises from learning, culminating in an increase in value. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the problem-based learning model assisted by pop-up book media on the cognitive abilities of fourth-grade IPAS students. The population used by the researchers was fourth-grade students from all of Mangkujayan Village. This research uses a quantitative approach and the type of quasi-experimental research with a pre-test post-test control design. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The sample used consisted of 60 fourth-grade students from SDN 1 Mangkujayan. Class B, with 30 students, served as the experimental group, while Class IV C, with 30 students, served as the control group. In the experimental class, the researchers used the PBL model and pop-up book learning media, while the control class used the lecture learning model. The instruments used were tests and documentation. The tests were divided into two stages: pre-test and post-test. The data analysis technique used normality tests, homogeneity tests, followed by balance tests and hypothesis tests. The research results showed a t-value of 2.384 > t-table value of 2.001, so H1 was accepted, and H0 was rejected. Therefore, the PBL model assisted by pop-up book media is effective on the cognitive abilities of fourth-grade IPAS students.
