Abstract
Teaching modules can help teachers in the learning process and as a guide in carrying out teaching and learning activities in the classroom. Teaching modules can be innovated by linking to culture or also called ethnomathematics which studies mathematics through the characteristics of the community's culture, one of which is the traditional game of engklek. Learning according to experience or called the Experiential Learning model, will make it easier for students to understand the material. The purpose of this study was to develop a teaching module based on ethnomathematics with the Experiential Learning model on quadrilateral material for junior high school students in grade VIII. This type of research is Research & Development using the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects in this study were students in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Geger consisting of a control class and an experimental class with a total of 44 students. The research instruments used were validation sheets, questionnaires, observations, interviews, test questions with technical data analysis of validity, practicality and effectiveness. The results of the study indicate that the ethnomathematics-based teaching module with the Experiential Learning model meets the criteria of very valid with an average combined percentage of 90.63%, meets the criteria of very practical with an average percentage of filling in the response questionnaire of 90.28% in the limited trial and 89.20% of the experimental class and 86.08% of the control class in the field trial, and does not meet the effectiveness by obtaining a percentage of 47.69% of the experimental class and 44.61% of the control class, but there is an effect of using the ethnomathematics-based teaching module with the Experiential Learning model on students' mathematical understanding using the Mann-Whitney test with a Sig. (2-tailed) value obtained of 0.001. The results of the study indicate that the ethnomathematics-based teaching module with the Experiential Learning model on junior high school quadrilateral material is valid, practical, and effective and can be used in schools.
