Choiron Nur Rohim. 2024. Analysis of Student Errors in Solving Exponent Problems Based on Kastolan Theory Class IX MTs Roudlotut Tholibin. Thesis. Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP, PGRI Madiun UNIVERSITY. Supervisor (I) Fatriya Adamura, S.Pd., M.Pd. (II) Titin Masfingatin, S.Pd., M.Pd. This research was motivated by the large number of students who made mistakes in answering questions about exponents. The aim of this research is to analyze students' errors in solving exponent problems using Kastolan theory. The exponent material was chosen for this research because the exponents taught at MTs are introductory material for studying exponents and logarithms at the high school/vocational school level. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research were 13 class IX students at MTs Roudlotut Tholibin. The data collection technique is using written tests and interviews. Tenkin used data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Analysis was carried out by giving a written test of 3 questions and an interview guide. The results of this research were that students made conceptual errors, namely students were unable to apply the properties of exponent numbers, procedural errors, namely students who were unable to process the answer further so that they found the simplest result, and technical errors, namely students wrote down the calculation results incorrectly.
