Abstract
This research aims to describe the implementation of character education through character education at SDN Dimong 01 Madiun Regency. This research is qualitative research with an exploratory type. The data taken is in the form of opinions, physical descriptions, observation notes, subjective responses. Data collection techniques in this research are documentation, observation and interviews. Interviews were conducted with teachers and students of class IV SDN Dimong 01 Madiun Regency. The results of this research show that at the activity planning stage, through discussion, the goal of the activity was produced, namely providing education in forming character in accordance with one of the dimensions of the Pancasila student profile, namely the independent dimension, activity strategies (1) direct learning; (2) learning by doing; (3) interactive strategy; (4) a combination strategy of evaluation with process and results orientation; (5) intervention strategies and activity programs, namely (1) front group deliberation; (2) new member orientation period; (3) regular exercise; (4) SKU exam; (5) SKK exam; (6) squad leader rehearsal; (7) persami (Saturday Sunday camp); (8) exploration and obstacles; (9) community service to; (10) combined exercises; (11) semester reports to branch quarters; (12) level I competition; (13) take part in activities at kwaran, kwarcab, and kwarnas. Next, the implementation stage is carried out in accordance with the work program that has been created. In its implementation, it produces character changes in students, namely the emergence of independent characters that match the Pancasila student profile. At the activity evaluation stage, obstacles were found, namely a lack of teacher coordination due to changes in the schedule that had not been properly scheduled, thus hampering the activities. There are also challenges felt by teachers, namely in implementing character education, especially independent character education. In its implementation, teachers strive to implement character education in scout extracurricular activities.
