ABSTRACT Irvan Dwi Anggara. 2024. Analysis of Pilangkenceng 1 Public High School Students' Errors in Working on Mathematics Story Problems Based on the Newman Method. Thesis. Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisor (1) Titin Masfingatin, S.Pd., M.Pd. , (II) Davi Apriandi, S.Pd.Si, M.Pd. This research aims to describe the types of students' errors in working on mathematics story problems along with the causal factors based on the Newman Method. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The research instruments used were test questions and interview guidelines. The subjects of this research were 34 students in class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Pilangkenceng and 4 students were taken to be interviewed based on error classification based on the Mewman Method. The types of errors made by students are, transformation or conversion errors, students make mistakes in determining formulas and carrying out arithmetic operations that are used to solve problems in math story problems, processing errors, students make mistakes in determining the steps to solve problems in the problem. math stories and mistakes in writing the final answer, students made mistakes in the previous stages so that students made mistakes in writing the final answer.
