Abstract

This study aims to describe the diction and figurative language in the lyrics of the album "Tanpa Aku" by Panji Sakti. The background of this research is the lack of exploration of religious themes in contemporary Indonesian pop music, while Panji Sakti has successfully presented divinely-themed songs that are popular among young people. This study analyzes the use of diction and figurative language in Panji Sakti's song lyrics to understand how these elements contribute to attracting attention and communicating spiritual messages to listeners. This research uses a qualitative approach and the descriptive method. The data source is the lyrics of the songs in the album "Tanpa Aku" by Panji Sakti. Data collection was carried out using non-participant observation and note-taking methods. The data analysis technique involves data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The study was conducted from February to June 2024. The data taken includes lyrics containing diction and figurative language. The results of the study show 33 uses of diction, consisting of 18 denotative and 15 connotative diction. In figurative language, 30 uses were found, consisting of 10 personifications, 9 metaphors, 7 anaphoras, and 4 parallelisms. Denotative diction is used for clarity and direct understanding, while connotative diction adds emotional depth. Figurative language enriches the aesthetics of the lyrics and deepens the listening experience by expressing emotions creatively.
