Abstract
Based on the results of observations conducted by researchers during PLP II at SDN 01 Demangan in grade IV, researchers found several students who showed intolerant attitudes. One example, a student refused to help his other friends when they needed help. This happens when there are students who do not understand the subject matter being taught, even though other students are able to understand the material well. In fact, students who understand the lesson do not help, instead they push their friends to the wrong answer because they believe that friends are rivals. This makes students unable to learn to work together with each other with their own friends. Therefore, the character of tolerance is very important so that students can develop positive characters, such as appreciating and respecting every difference. This study aims to determine the value of the character of tolerance of grade IV students at SDN 01 Demangan. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of interviews with the principal, homeroom teachers and several students, it was found that most grade IV students were already good in the character of tolerance, especially religious tolerance. The results of observations conducted by researchers show that most grade IV students already have a character of tolerance in themselves. Based on the results of the questionnaire data analysis conducted by the researcher, an average of 75.66% was obtained, which means that most fourth grade students have tolerance character values. The homeroom teacher and the school also facilitate and encourage students to develop an attitude of tolerance. This is good enough for students to learn to apply the tolerance character values that exist in students in their daily lives.
