Hery Sudaryono, 2024.Improving the Quality of the Learning Process and Descriptive Writing Skills Through the Application of the Inquiry Learning Model with Serial Picture Media in Grade 4 Students of SDN 2 Simo Slahung District Ponorogo Regency for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Thesis. Madiun: Graduate Program, PGRI Madiun University. Advisors: (1) Dr. V. Teguh Suharto, M.Pd., (2) Dr. Sigit Ricahyono, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Descriptive Writing Skills, Inquiry Learning Model, Serial Picture Media. This research is motivated by the problem of low descriptive writing skills among fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Simo, Slahung District, Ponorogo Regency. Students have difficulty generating story ideas to be expressed in descriptive texts. Given this reality, the author intends to conduct research on teaching descriptive text writing by applying the Inquiry Learning Model with Serial Picture Media. This study aims to determine the improvement in the quality of the learning process and descriptive writing skills using the Inquiry Learning Model with Serial Picture Media. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research conducted in two stages, namely cycle I and cycle II. Data collection techniques used are tests and non-tests. The test technique consists of descriptive writing skill tests, while the non-test technique includes student activity data from observations, interviews, and photo documentation. This research uses qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. Both techniques are analyzed by comparing the results of cycle I and cycle II tests. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Inquiry Learning Model with Serial Picture Media can improve the descriptive writing skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Simo, Slahung District, Ponorogo Regency. This improvement can be seen from the final test results of cycle I and cycle II. The final test results of cycle I showed an average score of 70,6, which falls into the sufficient category, while in cycle II, the average score increased to 78,4, which falls into the good category. The improvement from cycle I to cycle II was 10,5 points or 10,5%. In the learning process, student activities also showed positive improvement. Inappropriate activities in cycle I were no longer observed and changed to appropriate activities in cycle II. Students were active in the learning process from the beginning to reflection. They were more enthusiastic, motivated, and serious when participating in descriptive writing lessons.
