Abstract
A common difficulty experienced by elementary school students is when they have to write rhymes, because in rhyme writing lessons students have to see and adapt to the characteristics of existing rhymes. Based on the problem formulation, this research aims to improve the rhyme writing ability of class IV students at Nambangrejo State Elementary School 1 in the 2023/2024 academic year through the application of the Explicit Instruction Method. The subjects of this research were 36 students in class IV of Nambangrejo 1 Elementary School. Data obtained from test instruments, observations and interviews. Data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the pre-action test, namely before the research action was carried out, showed that the average score achieved was 55.2. After the action the average results obtained were 63.8 in cycle I, cycle II 71.6. The pre-action test results obtained by students with a class average of 55.2 were included in the poor category. Furthermore, the results after the first cycle of action were with an average value of 63.8 in the sufficient category, and in cycle II it was 77.6 in the good category. In this way, there is an increase in the category from poor to sufficient, finally to good. The Explicit Instruction method has proven to be effective in improving students' rhyme writing skills.
