Keywords: assessment, authenticity, and reading skills This research aims to (1) describe and explain the application of authentic assessment in the learning of reading skills for grade 2 students at SDN 1 Talun, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency, (2) describe and explain the responses of teachers and students to the application of authentic assessment in the learning of reading skills for grade 2 students at SDN 1 Talun, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency, and (3) describe and explain student learning outcomes regarding the application of authentic assessment in learning reading skills for grade 2 students at SDN 1 Talun, Ngebel District, Regency Ponorogo. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The technique used to analyze data in this research is the interactive model from Miles and Huberman. The results of this research are (1) the implementation of authentic assessment in learning reading skills for grade 2 students at SDN 1 Talun, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency, was completed based on the results of observations and interviews because during the learning process the students were enthusiastic in following the lesson, (2) the response of teachers and students to Authentic assessment in learning reading skills for lower class 2nd grade students at SDN 1 Talun, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency was successful, because it can make it easier for teachers to carry out learning evaluations and learning in class to be effective, and (3) Learning outcome tests It is known to students that the completion of learning or Indonesian KKM for reading material using authentic assessment is successful because most of the scores are above the KKM. There were 2 students who had not completed their studies or 11.11% (obtained scores < KKM), while 6 students who had completed their studies or 88.89% (obtained scores > KKM).
