Abstract

This thesis aims to describe and explain learning strategy using serial image media in narrative essay writing activities at SDN 1 Karangan, Balong, Ponorogo. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The data source used is assessment data for both process and outcome assessments. The data obtained came from the value of the product of writing narrative essays for 5th grade students as an assessment of their product. Meanwhile, process assessment takes the form of data from observations during learning activities. Data collection techniques in this research used oral tests, written tests, assignments and also observations. The results of the research show that the implementation of learning to write narrative essays at SDN 1 Karangan can run as well. The use of serial image media in learning to write narrative essays is very effective. With a series of pictures, it can be easier for students to find ideas which they can then put into narrative essays according to the storyline in the series of pictures. This is shown by the increase in student learning outcomes in narrative essay writing skills. From the results of activity observations, it shows that by using serial image media students are more enthusiastic in writing narrative essays so that learning to write becomes a fun learning experience.
