Abstract
ABSTRACT Liyah Ujiantining. 2024. Improving Writing Ability with Big Book Media for Fifth Grade Students of SDN Nongkodono in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. Thesis. Madiun: Master of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Postgraduate Program, University of Madiun, Supervisor I Dr. Dwi Setiyadi, M.M., Supervisor II Dr. Agung Nasrulloh Saputro, S.Pd.,M.Pd. Keywords: Big book, Writing Ability This research is a qualitative research of the Classroom Action Research (CAR) type. The purpose of this research is to describe and explain the application of big book media to improve writing ability in fifth grade students of SDN Nongkodono in the Indonesian Language subject in the 2023/2024 academic year. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CLRES) which is carried out in two cycles covering four stages, namely: planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The data obtained in cycles I and II were analyzed using comparative descriptive techniques and critical analysis techniques. After conducting research by implementing the Big Book media, there was an increase in writing skills in grade V students of SDN Nongkodono. The student learning outcomes in writing skill scores were the average class scores and classical completeness obtained by students in each cycle. The initial data obtained before the implementation of the action using the big book media, namely the average class score only reached 64 with a classical completeness of 33.4%, in cycle I after the media was implemented the average class score increased to 75 and classical completeness increased to 72.2%. In cycle II the class average increased significantly to 82 and classical completeness increased to 88.9%. Thus, the use of big book media can improve writing skills in grade V students of SDN Nongkodono Ponorogo in the 2023/2024 academic year.
