Abstract
ABSTRACT Fata Ihda Umami 2024. The Influence of Self-Control and Brand Minded Lifestyle on the Consumptive Behavior of Guidance and Counseling Students at PGRI Madiun University. Thesis. Guidance and Counseling Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisor (1) Beny Dwi Pratama, S.Psi., M.Psi. (II) Diana Ariswanti Triningtyas, M.Psi. This research aims to analyze the influence of self-control and a brand-minded lifestyle on the consumptive behavior of Guidance and Counseling students at PGRI Madiun University. The research method used is quantitative ex post facto with an associative approach. The research population was 8th Semester Guidance and Counseling students at PGRI Madiun University, with a sample of 33 students taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through observation and questionnaires using a Likert scale model. Data analysis includes validity, reliability, normality, linearity and linear multiple regression tests. The research results show that self-control has a significant influence on students' consumptive behavior, but the direction of the influence needs to be investigated further because it was found that increasing self-control actually increases consumptive behavior. A brand-minded lifestyle is proven to have a strong positive influence on consumer behavior, indicating that students who are more brand-oriented tend to have higher levels of consumer behavior. Simultaneously, self-control and brand-minded lifestyle have a significant influence on consumer behavior, showing the complexity of the factors that influence students' consumption behavior. This research concludes that self-control and a brand-minded lifestyle have an important role in influencing the consumptive behavior of Guidance and Counseling students, including the importance of a holistic approach in understanding and dealing with consumptive behavior among students.
