Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the impact of pair work as a learning method on the writing skills of eighth grade students. The experimental research employs a quasi-experimental design. This study included two groups: experimental and control. This is to determine which group is most effective in assisting students with their writing skill. The first group was taught by using pair work, while the second group was treated by using conventional teaching. pair work that assist students in improving their writing skills. The participants in this study were eighth-grade sudents at MTSN Kota Madiun. The independent t-test was used to analye the data. The study's findings show that there is a significant difference between students who write paragraph after being taught using pair work and students who write paragraphs after taught using conventional teaching. Students who were taught using conventional teaching performed less in writing than students who were taught using pair work. It means that using pair work to teach writing recount text is preferable than using conventional teaching to help students improve their writing skills.
