Abstract

Bullying cases often make people anxious, not infrequently also among students. The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of Group Counseling Behavior Symbolic Modeling Techniques to reduce bullying behavior. Class VIII students at MTS Negeri 10 Madiun have a percentage of Physical Bullying of 20%, Verbal Bullying of 45% and Cyberbullying. 35%. The aim of behavioral group counseling is to use symbolic modeling techniques which are useful for changing negative behavior into positive by learning new behavior using models as examples and efforts to change student behavior. This study uses experimental quantitative testing techniques with a One Group Pretest -Posttest design. The population in this study is 100 students. A sample of 21 students was taken using the Slovin formula. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale model. The test method used in this analysis is non-parametric measurement, namely the Wilcoxon test to determine whether there is a decrease in bullying behavior or not after being given behavioral guidance using behavioral counseling services using symbolic modeling techniques. Normality test results using SPSS version 26 with the Shapiro -Wilk method explained that the resulting data values were declared normal by meeting the requirements for significance values for pre-test and post -test variables > 0.05. The results of the Wilcoxon test to determine the hypothesis value stated that the Sig. (2 -tailed) is 0.027 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that group counseling behavioral symbolic modeling techniques are effective in reducing bullying behavior. Suggestions are given to students, teachers and schools
