Keywords: reading, techniques, and scrambled words This study aims to describe (1) the use of the Scramble Kata technique can improve the reading ability of first-grade students of Selosari State Elementary School, Magetan District, Magetan Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of first-grade students of Selosari State Elementary School, Magetan District, Magetan Regency in learning to read using the Scramble Kata technique. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the use of the Scramble Kata technique can improve the reading ability of first-grade students of Selosari State Elementary School, Magetan District, Magetan Regency. This is evidenced by the reading ability of first-grade students of Selosari State Elementary School, Magetan District, Magetan Regency has increased making the classroom atmosphere interactive and fun, fostering interest and motivation, attracting students' attention and increasing students' self-confidence during the learning process. Learning with the Scramble Kata technique is very suitable to be applied especially to improve students' reading ability in Indonesian language learning, and (2) the learning of first grade students of Selosari State Elementary School, Magetan District, Magetan Regency in learning to read using the Scramble Word technique has increased. This can be proven through the results of the pre-cycle, cycle I to cycle II. This can be seen in the increase in the average reading scores of students in each cycle, namely the pre-cycle completion of 35.71% or 10 students out of 28 students, cycle I completion of 53.57% or 15 students out of 28 students and an average score of 69, cycle II completion level of 82.14% or 23 students out of 28 students and an average score of 78.
