Abstract

Improving Speaking Skills Using the Student Facilitator and Explaining Learning Model for Grade III Students of Tambar State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency. Theses. Madiun: Indonesian Master of Language and Literature Education Study Program, Post Graduate Program, Universitas PGRI Madiun, Advisor I) Prof. Dr. Bambang Eko Hari Cahyono, M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, M.Hum. Keywords: speaking, learning models, student facilitator and explaining This study aims to describe (1) the Student Facilitator And Explaining learning model can improve the speaking skills of third-grade students of Tambar State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of third-grade students of Tambar State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency in speaking learning using the Student Facilitator And Explaining learning model. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the use of the student facilitator and explaining learning model can improve the speaking skills of third-grade students of Tambar State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency, experiencing improvements in both the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. This is evidenced by the implementation process of the second cycle of learning which is more effective and satisfying with maximum results. Students are more enthusiastic and motivated to be active in participating in learning, and students begin to have the courage and confidence to speak in expressing their opinions, and (2) the learning outcomes of third-grade students at Tambar State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency, in speaking lessons using the student facilitator and explaining learning model have improved and (3) the obstacles encountered during the implementation of the Student Facilitator and Explaining model were successfully addressed through motivation, continuous guidance, effective classroom management, and careful lesson planning. These efforts proved effective in increasing student participation in learning activities and enhancing their speaking skills.. The average overall student score in cycle I was 70.3, while in cycle II it was 87.76, with a percentage increase of 17.46%. All assessment aspects were classified as moderate in cycle I and increased to the very high category in cycle II.
