Abstract

Writing poetry is an important language skill that should be developed through learning experiences encouraging students to think creatively, explore imagination,and express ideas meaningfully. However, teacher-centered instruction often limits students’ ability to generate ideas and transform them into poetic expressions. This study aims to: (1) describe the implementation of the Project Based Learning model assisted by technology-based image media in poetry writing instruction; (2) describe the role of technology-based image media in poetry writing instruction; and (3) describe the changes in students' poetry writing ability after participating in the learning process. This qualitative study employed a case study design in Grade VI of SDN Bulurejo 2. Data were collected through classroom observations,interviews, documentation, and analysis of students’ poetry. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that Project Based Learning assisted by technology-based picture media was implemented systematically through six learning phases that actively engaged students throughout the project. The media effectively stimulated students to generate ideas,develop imagination, and choose appropriate diction based on poem themes.Furthermore, the learning model and media improved students’ poetry writing skills, as reflected in the quality of their poems, creativity, self-confidence, and collaboration during the learning process, resulting in more meaningful and engaging learning experiences.
