Abstract

Furniture employee productivity includes a series of processes and activities, from cutting, smoothing, shaping, to the finishing process, several things that affect the income of furniture employees are starting from discipline attitudes such as attendance, arriving on time, completing work on time, providing the latest innovations. This study aims to (a) understand what forms of work productivity are carried out by furniture employees in Ngadirejo Village, (b) what efforts are made by furniture employees in developing furniture production work skills, (c) Knowing what strategies are carried out in increasing the income of furniture employees, (d) what are the obstacles for furniture employees that can affect income among furniture employees in Ngadirejo Village in increasing income. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews with 13 respondents who are active in working in furniture, and documentation. The analysis was carried out inductively and validated by data triangulation. The results show (a) there are several forms of productivity carried out during furniture production, namely making tables, making chairs, making cupboards and so on which are adapted to the latest innovations. (b) efforts made to develop work skills are by participating in training held by the business premises, by institutional bodies, or programs that hold them, and trying to learn and adapt, (c) there are several strategies for increasing income, namely implementing work discipline, improving work quality, providing the latest innovations and carrying out promotions widely, (d) obstacles that furniture employees often face are in the form of equipment damage, employee absence, and weak purchasing power of the community which can affect income.
