Abstract
The mining sector, which contributes significantly to the national economy but carries relatively high business risks, has led to inconsistent fluctuations in the profitability of mining companies. On the other hand, the government’s involvement as a shareholder has also come under scrutiny, given its dual role as both a regulator and an investor, which has the potential to influence corporate value. This study aims to analyze the impact of profitability and government ownership on firm value among mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2021–2025. This period was selected due to fundamental regulatory changes introduced by Government Regulation (PP) No. 25 of 2024 and PP No. 39 of 2025, which revised PP No. 96 of 2021. This study offers a more comprehensive analysis by combining the variables of profitability and government ownership, supported by firm size as a control variable. In this study, secondary data were collected from financial statements and annual reports using a purposive sampling method. The results indicate that profitability has no effect on firm value. Conversely, government ownership has a positive and significant effect on firm value, and the control variable—firm size—also has a positive effect on firm value.
