Abstract

Keywords: listening, fairy tales, paired storytelling models, and cartoon puppet media This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of the paired storytelling model with cartoon puppet media can improve learning to listen to fairy tales in class II students of Sawiji State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency, and (2) the learning outcomes of class II students of Sawiji State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency in learning to listen to fairy tales using the paired storytelling model with cartoon puppet media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the application of the paired storytelling model with cartoon puppet media can improve learning to listen to fairy tales in class II students of Sawiji State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency. This is proven by the observation of teacher activities obtaining a score of 35 with a percentage of 87.5% (very good criteria). Observation of student activities obtained an average score of 24.38 with a percentage of 87.33% (very good criteria), and (2) the learning outcomes of second-grade students of Sawiji State Elementary School, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency in listening to fairy tales using the paired storytelling model with cartoon puppet media have increased. This is indicated by an increase in learning outcomes in the first cycle meeting, an average score of 67.27 was obtained with a learning completion of 59.10%, and in the second meeting an average score of 70.9 with a learning completion of 68.2%. Then in the second cycle meeting, an average score of 73.8 was obtained with a completion of 77.3%, and in the second meeting an average score of 85.4 with a completion of 90.9%.
