Abstract
This study aimed to describe and explain (1) the implementation of the keyword technique assisted by visual media in improving the narrative writing skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Alang-Alang Caruban 2, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency, and (2) the students' learning outcomes in narrative writing through the use of the keyword technique assisted by visual media. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design consisting of two cycles. The findings revealed that: (1) the implementation of the keyword technique assisted by visual media successfully improved the narrative writing skills of the fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Alang-Alang Caruban 2, Jogoroto District, Jombang Regency. This improvement was evidenced by the achievement of the predetermined indicators, including increased student participation, attention and concentration, as well as interest and motivation during the learning process. Furthermore, the shortcomings identified in Cycle I were successfully addressed by the teacher in Cycle II. During Cycle II, students became more actively engaged in the learning activities, paid greater attention to the teacher's explanations, and demonstrated higher learning motivation. (2) The students' learning outcomes in narrative writing also improved significantly through the implementation of the keyword technique assisted by visual media. This was demonstrated by the increase in the average learning outcome score from 68 in Cycle I to 94 in Cycle II. Learning mastery also improved considerably, with 18 students (47%) achieving mastery in Cycle I, increasing to 38 students (100%) in Cycle II, thereby achieving classical learning mastery.
