Abstract
This classroom action research aims to determine the application of the Problem-Solving learning model in improving motivation and learning outcomes in grade VIII-B students of SMPN 14 Kota Madiun. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 32 grade VIII-B students in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation, testing, and documentation, then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Problem-Solving learning model significantly improved student motivation and learning outcomes. This was evident in cycle I, where student motivation was in the moderate category at 62%, increasing to 78% in cycle II, with a high category. The improvement in student learning outcomes can be seen from the average class score and the percentage of learning completion from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, the average student score was 73.8, with a classical completion rate of 63%. This increased in cycle II to a class average of 82.5 and a classical completion rate of 84%. This study concludes that the Problem-Solving learning model is effective as an alternative to social studies learning to improve student motivation and learning outcomes.
