Abstract
Abdi Tunggal Waskito. 2026. Improving Descriptive Text Writing Skills and Learning Motivation through the Picture and Picture Model for Sixth-Grade Students at SD Negeri Kudubanjar 2 Kudu Jombang. Master's Thesis. Madiun: Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School, PGRI Madiun University. Advisors: (I) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hanif, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Ermi Adriani Meikayanti, M.Pd. Keywords: Writing Skills, Picture and Picture Model, Descriptive Text. This study aimed to improve students' descriptive text writing skills and learning motivation through the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model. The research employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 18 sixth-grade students of SD Negeri Kudubanjar 2, Kudu District, Jombang Regency. Data were collected through classroom observations, descriptive text writing tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The results of the study indicated that the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model effectively improved both students' descriptive text writing skills and their learning motivation. The average score of students' descriptive text writing skills increased from 63 in Cycle I to 80 in Cycle II, indicating an improvement from the fair category to the good category. Students' learning motivation also improved from the fair category to the very good category. This improvement was reflected in students' increased participation in observing pictures, greater involvement in group discussions, enhanced confidence in expressing their opinions, and higher enthusiasm for writing descriptive texts based on the pictures provided. The research success indicators were achieved in Cycle II; therefore, the study was concluded at that stage. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the Picture and Picture learning model is effective in improving the descriptive text writing skills and learning motivation of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri Kudubanjar 2, Kudu District, Jombang Regency.
