Abstract
ABSTRACT Berliana Anggun Citra Dewi. 2026. Implementation Of The Discovery Learning Model Based On Local Historical Stories In Narrative Text Learning For Sixth-Grade Students Of SD Negeri Sidowayah 2, Kabupaten MagetaN. Thesis. Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education. Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA). Supervisor I: Dr. Panji Kuncoro Hadi SS.,M.Pd., Supervisor II: Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Discovery Learning, local historical stories, narrative text, case study, elementary school. This research is motivated by the low understanding and engagement of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri Sidowayah 2, Kabupaten Magetan, in narrative texts which are abstract without local cultural context. The objective is to describe the implementation of Discovery Learning based on local historical stories and analyze its impact on narrative text comprehension. This study uses a descriptive qualitative case study approach. Subjects were sixth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed interactively using the Miles and Huberman model. Findings show that Magetan local historical stories served as a strong stimulus in the discovery phase, helping students independently explore intrinsic elements (characters, plot, setting). Students improved in identifying text structure, connecting moral values with history, and writing coherent retellings. This model provides meaningful learning experiences and is worth developing as an innovation for narrative text instruction in elementary schools.
